 ENG 0005 (Spoken English- BBA, BS in Economics & ENG 005- Engineering)

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to do the following:

  1. Identify the barriers to confident speaking.
  2. Improve the level of confidence in using English in day-to-day situations.
  3. Present information, concepts, and ideas in English.
  4. Practice principles and techniques in effective speaking and group instructions.
  5. Express their thoughts in English more effectively and present themselves more confidently in personal interview.

ENG 1101 (Basic English – BBA& BS in Economics)

Course Objectives:

After completing this course, students will be able to do the following:

  1. Read different texts of the target language in order to become an effective reader
  2. Interpret different aural discourses in target language and demonstrate oral fluency through individual or group presentations
  3. Apply wide range of words to create appropriate, grammatically correct and meaningful sentences
  4. Translate target language into their mother tongue
  5. Analyze and apply enhanced language skills in their core courses in one hand and real life conditions on the other hand

ENG 101 (English I – Engineering)

This course is designed to improve students’ communicative competence which they will apply in their core courses. It will enhance their proficiency in reading, grammar, vocabulary and listening.

After completing this course, students will be able to do the following:

  1. Understand the use of target language in context through reading practices.
  2. Learn a wide range of new words which students will apply in their core courses and in real life situations.
  3. Increase knowledge of the target language through listening exercises and implement the skill for academic tasks.
  4. Improve grammatical knowledge and write error free sentences.
  5. Analyze and apply language skills in their core courses in one hand and in real life conditions on the other.
  6. Learn to translate target language into their mother tongue, and hence they will understand target language better.

English II (ENG 103)/ Composition and Communication English (ENG 1204)

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate good command over writing: appropriate, accurate and fluent with complete understanding
  2. Analyze and reflect while writing different topics
  3. Apply new and more challenging strategies for creative and free writing
  4. Apply important academic and professional writing skills that fulfill university writing requirements
  5. Use a wide range of words, English grammar and syntax accurately
